''Jimmy Page also shows off his chops, coming directly from the Yardbirds. While not at the height of his technical prowess'' Ironically enough it is 1969-1972 that is considered Jimmy's peak as a guitarist, both studio-wise and live-wise. Good review, anyway

Overall find this one too bluesy and rambling
'Babe' and 'Dazed' are classics though

This is one of the best debuts I've heard, sure it has flaws, but it still rules hard!

I can see why most people will enjoy this more but it's just a personal dislike I have for old school blues jams. My top 2 LZ albums are Physical Graffiti and Houses of the Holy, probably the two least bluesy

Excellent stuff here, impressive for a debut.

I have all the Zeppelin albums rated similarly, save for Presence and Out Door which are considerably lower, so I don't know if I have a clear favorite.

In Through the Out Door is better than Prescense imo. Only good song on Prescense was Achille's Last Stand.

There is a common point on the two last studio albums of Led Zeppelin, Presence and In Through The Out Door. They aren’t a collective effort by all band members but almost an effort of two of them. On Through The Out Door features much greater influence of Plant and Jones because Page and Bonham often not showing up on time at the studio, with Page suffering from heroin problems and Bonham suffering from alcoholism problems. Presence features much greater influence of Plant and Page because the car accident of Plant in Malibu. This can explained the fact that the majority of the songs On Presence were made at Malibu, where Page had initially joined to Plant, but not Jones and Bonham.
By the other hand, they’re two completely distinct musical works. Presence is a guitar based album where the keyboards were totally removed and In Through The Out Door is the opposite, a keyboard based album with keyboards on all tracks that pushes Page’s guitar into the background on several songs.
However and despite both albums represent two completely different musical proposals, they are both, in my humble opinion, two much underrated albums abd probably have the same quality level. However, I think Nobody’s Fault But Mine is also a great track.
Sincerely, for me, all Led Zeppelin albums are excellent. Anyway my favourite album is Led Zeppelin IV.

Sometimes I prefer the more pastoral, down to earth nature of III, other times I go for the relaxing and atmospheric tone of Houses Of The Holy, others I love the blues spirit of I better. They're probably my 3 favorites.

When people are young, they consider IV to be the best. But with age, they come to realize that Houses of the Holy is the best.

"In Through the Out Door is better than Prescense imo. Only good song on Prescense was Achille's Last Stand."
Are you trying to get me to rant?
Presence is top 3 Zeppelin, Achilles isn't even the best song on there but is still amazing, and while I like In Through the Out Door, it doesn't even hold a candle... in my opinion.
For Your Life is top 5 Zeppelin.

I've never though IV was the best... for me it's always been Physical Graffiti, with Houses of the Holy and Presence close behind... honestly.

Yes because 73-76 Zep > 69-72 Zep

I've never considered IV the best, so I also have to disagree with that statement.
