"what’s y’alls favorite riff on the album?"

The Summoning ez. this isn't really a riff album for me, but that song's stoner/doom dive absolutely nails it

Tru. It's more like an album where I cleanse myself in a bathtub of lush guitar tones.

I find it unbelievable this is sub 4 on this site. I'm not expecting it to rate better than the other two records, but uh. Darn near perfect record.

is it a hot take to say I don't think we'll ever see an album hit 4.3 again (assume around 500+ votes)

Radical was the last album ever to settle at a 4.2

Probably will never happen again. Could be the most objectively perfect album in the world that somehow appeals to everyone's taste and the troll 1's and contrarians would still knock it down.

Finally this album is getting the love it deserves. It is as good as Downwards is Heavenwards or You’d Prefer An Astronaut. Spacey shit to get stoned to. Ohms is underrated at 3.9 as well. I definitely don’t see another 4.3 or tbh 4.1 above 500 votes unless it is AOTY tier shit. It would still get snubbed for AOTY by some trendy indie album or zeitgeist.

I was going to say Radicals is the most recent album (2021) that I have seen with a 4.2 or above recently. That album should be 4.4. I think a lot of people have left the site. A popular album now has more than 300 votes. A new album can be released and have a review on the front page to expose it and still get 10 votes lol. There are people who vote just to vote. People like to be contrarian assholes or elitists. Review bombing is more prevalent towards hip hop or trendy bands like Deftones, Thrice, or Every Time I Die just to name as examples.

If DEP or Isis came back and wrote an immaculate album, maybe you will see a 4.2?

i think the next ulcerate album is likely to get a 4.2 if they continue on the same quality trajectory as SIDABS. sput loves them (i do too)
