Vocals are classic Hum, some good variety in them across the album too

yea gotta say the vocals are the weakpoint of the album if there is one, he sounds good on The Summoning when his vox blends with the wall of sound but at the end of Shapeshifter his delivery is kinda tacky

I like this album...but I feel like the bands that have been (likely) influenced by Hum have approached and circled around this aesthetic already. It’s probably an unfair criticism but it’s holding me back from fully embracing this as a worthy follow-up to Downward is Heavenward. Did anyone here listen to the last Spotlights?

I've been thoroughly enjoying this album. A good litmus test lately for me has been whether or not an album makes me want to pick up my guitar, and this one most certainly does.

I agree with the Spotlights comparisons. They also rule.

Agreed. This is great vocally. Really smooth layer on top of everything, whereas they could be distracting if not grating on the old stuff. Biggest surprise about this release for me.

Yeah, v glad the vocals went the way of Little Dipper/Isle of the Cheetah and not the way of The Pod/Comin Home

This gets better with every listen, a definite contender for AOTY. Wouldn't doubt it'll be in the top 5 of 2020 sput albums.

Would this be a good album to start exploring their discography or should I start elsewhere?
