Title and artwork are great. Commenting to remind myself to finally listen to this in 2 or 3 years.

Nah it's the production haha I have the same problem. Which is strange because I rarely have an issue understanding him when listening to Counterparts.

Can definitely see where the production becomes a problem for people. On first listen I could pick out probably 25% of what he screamed but after reading the lyrics, I haven’t had that problem with subsequent listens and have been able to hear everything clearly.
I don’t hear it as one-note though, I think Brendan really shows off his range here that he doesn’t use in Counterparts

Sands of Sleep....wooooooahhh

I just listen to it like a Converge record and accept that I’m not going to understand anything he’s saying. The visceral anger is more important than the actual lyrics imo.
Brendan is also way more dynamic here than on the EP. His highs in the black metal-esque passages are tasty.

This kinda reminds me of a modern version of The Red Chord, In a good way of course.

sands of sleep is absolutely the most impressive song to me
this album is really fun for like 15 accumulated minutes before sands of sleep and then that whole song is just surprising. lots of really cool witty parts throughout the whole album , which i usually like, but the monotonous heavy just to be heavy parts kinda draaaag. def a few really sick songs
also when this album ends on Spotify it immediately plays seeyouspacecowboy and that shit sucksssss so much lol

Yeah, Sands of Sleep is easily my favorite track on here. When those guest cleans come in, that is just amazing

I was legitimately surprised to hear the vocalist of O'Brother on that track.
Definitely the highlight track of the album for sure.
|
| |
honestly just keep listening to this over and over again bc it’s so much fun sometimes and the world sucks rn and through that it’s growing on me lolll
it’s the same sort of attitude of errorzone by vein in that it’s straight up just fun and honoring like 10 different parts of heavy music that have been around forever
also every empty vein Slaps
|
| |
Three listens in and still find this underwhelming.
|
| |
there’s a comment early in this thread that’s like “this is what NAILS should have been” and i think i agree with that loll this sure beats much of what I’ve heard from the TIHC community except for maybe vein

I actually slightly prefer Survived By Nothing (closer of the EP). The ending of that track is so cavernous and menacing. Sands of Sleep is obviously still great, though.

sounds interesting. but is an esophagectomy involved?
