"I'm not a fan of their decision to sack Jim. But let's also not forget that they just released their first album in 6 years, will probably get record sales, have had nothing but critical acclaim for this record, and would have had a totally normal week had cancel culture not reared in hypocritical head."
I hope you lose your right leg

A 5.0... You think this is going to be a classic album that you / other hardcore fans will be listening to in 20 years, thinking, "wow, this really stands the test of time...?"

In the same way I still listen to Shai Hulud and Fury and the Fallen Ones, yeah. Does my choice of anthemic, message-driven positive hardcore offend you?
If so, feel free to simply choose not to listen to it on your own time! I find that works out great for music I don't enjoy.

Happens in every thread where something is getting attention. Always gonna be those that are salty that other people are enjoying something.

Just because you enjoy something doesn't mean its objectively a 5. Plenty of records out there I thoroughly enjoy but don't even cross a 3.5.

The fuck are you talking about, who said its objectively a 5?

This album is as average as it gets for the genre. Literally no new ideas, sounds like the same material they released a decade ago.

Vult: Literally has their first clean vox but hey man, thanks for sharing your opinion.
It's totally fine if you feel it's average and it doesn't do anything for you, but saying wrong-ass shit to justify that opinion kinda undermines your position my dude.
And just for clarity, I'm agreeing with your overall point. If you're looking for something to reinvent or progress the idea of hardcore/metalcore music, this ain't it lmfao.
But that's like going to a classic burger joint and being upset they don't have any new additions to their menu. You're not wrong, but your criticism also might be missing the point...

Coulda sworn i heard some clean vox on the previous two.

Ah shit, that's actually a really good point. I straight up forgot about Dear Youth. Misspoke there, but honestly I don't understand how people take perfectly good time out of their day to whine about music they didn't make and no one's forcing them to listen to. That's on me.

I was just excited to hear new tunes from them, I knew it wouldn't be revolutionary or anything but the fact that they can come together and release a new album after such a life changing event is cool. The music itself isn't anything too special but man the story behind it certainly is for me

You just contradicted yourself in your own post. You're the one that is whining here. I just said it was average. Not good, not bad. Like what you like, that's why music is subjective. I'm happy you and many others here like it.

Yeah, I think the "standing the test of time" factor is the most crucial part of 5'ing an album.
