I only found it out on Sunday, gutted. Definitely the best drummer they’ve had

The biggest hurdle I have with this band is Holmes’ voice — it’s so distracting how much he sounds like hetfield in the early portion of their discography. Band finds the right stuff when plagues within comes into the fray

I’ve failed to keep up with this band, but this is great

He was just a session man but my fav PL drumming could be Peter Damin's in Faith Divides Us. Such a trooper. Fun fact he was the drum tech for Katatonia's TGCD, no wonder the drumkit sounds killer.
I also really enjoyed Lee Morris, not flashy but always clean. He is a bit "invisible" for a lot of people I think (just see how many never cared for PL drums for a long time), but he has many fun parts.
As for the Hetfield comparison... I always thought it overblown tbh. I binge on both bands and it never bothered me. I mean yeah def something going on in Icon/DC but nothing that ever distracted me. Not to mention Holmes had a distinctive bigger bellowing power (ironically today it's the opposte haha) that set him apart
