for someone from Paramore

serious, for three songs this was looking like 2.5, maybe even 3 territory, then it all goes to sh't

first song has something about it - she should have kept that that style through a shorter album, like 35 minutes max, maybe less than 30 minutes

second song is ok, third is 'acceptably a bit sh't' but not offensive

then the whole thing gets offensively annoying being so long and so weak and her affected vocals get really kitchen sink trying everything to attempt CPR on a load of songs that should be left to die on the cutting room floor

Why We Ever is ok I guess, it's a struggle beyond track 3

This album is a weird case where I can vibe entirely with highly positive and highly negative takes but don't feel drawn particularly strongly in either direction. Only point I'd disagree over is that a shorter length would have served this better - this feels like a big personal unpacking, and these things (when they do work) tend to take long runtimes in their stride. Was a little surprised by how easily this went by

After about three listens I think this is very inconsistent (not in terms of style because that's obviously intentional, but rather in terms of quality). There's about 8 songs here I actively enjoy, probably could have been a superb 10-track LP. Wavering between a 3-3.5 because this has some awesome songs but it's also bloated.

Yeah, the three EPs into one LP layout irked me from the beginning. If you're gonna release EPs just release EPs and give each of them their own character. This is effectively a 15 song Spotify discovery playlist with one artist.

"If you're gonna release EPs just release EPs and give each of them their own character."

Isn't the album already essentially this, though, its collation basically just drawing attention to to the fact that the three distinct parts do ultimately form a whole (or wholistic journey; its release pattern prolonging the listener's experience of the individual parts as distinct from though also very much relative to the others, that's if the listener even chooses to engage with it as opposed to waiting for the whole thing in the first place)?

The criticism feels too "don't depart from the norm". Whether it was successful or not is another thing all together, of course; and I definitely get those who decide yeah, it doesn't work, for whatever reason.

Huh, it wasn't half as bad as I expected... I saw "armor" in the title, so I gave it a chance.

The bass in 'Pure Love' is 🔥

I can see that, Blush. I was one who waited for the whole thing so perhaps that skewed my perception a little. Maybe another listen will help them stand out more but then I couldn't get into anything here so the long length felt gratuitous.

i like the perspective of this being an 'unpacking personal experiences' album and how it relates to its' length and the amount of places it goes, but i struggle sooooooo hard to pay attention
