"also idk if anyone's mentioned this, but maybe the album cover oty so far?"
I think Envy still has the best art of the year but this fits so well.

I'm taking a month off from checking new releases but I have this downloaded and I'm looking forward to spending time with it come June. Never fallen in love with this band but they're decent and I get the sense that at some they'll fully click for me. Got a good feeling about this album. And the comparisons to Blushing have me very excited.

I want to say probably not, but some good prog vibes might spill over from your SW binge, so consider it a Strong Maybe (give Night or the Molok opener a peep and you'll get me)

Art for this album reminds me of the new Intronaut's cover art.

that apple art is iconic enough to make it as a runner-up lol, and yes yes empty country is definitely a contender
I'm kinda salty at this one's art just bc it's like a far improved version of the art I spent forever making for my last alb lol. also agreed with nightbringer

I think I'll settle on placing this below Garden Window and Endless Light but above Disillusion. This might have their best production, though. Also, Black Tide and What We've Lost is an underrated 1-2 punch, haven't heard many people singing their praises thus far.

Those two are the golden combo for me too, really impressive stuff. Gonna take a while to decide if I prefer this to Disillusion tbh; I feel they have very different strengths and weaknesses, so hard to say

Also worth discussing is how contextually they've totally supplanted Thrice in their scene but I know most will call blasphemy.

Ha, I can agree with that. Thrice aren't beyond the scope of a comeback, but this is comfortably ahead of their last three or so releases - although for deeper context, I think this is their Alchemy 1/2 so it'll be interesting to see where they're at by the time they reach their equivalent of where Thrice are at today.
For context: https://www.last.fm/user/johnnyoftheWell (this was not a fun conclusion to come to)

Alchemy Index will always be untouchable for me, but it's funny, I had the same thoughts re: You and I. AI 1/2 is accurate as well, sort of a middle ground blend of Fire and Water - smoothed out, but still with some intensity.

This was supposed to be free on bandcamp for the first week, but instead they're asking for a whole dollar. Which would be fine but I forgot my paypal password so I guess I'll wait the week until it's on spotify.
So-so on O'brother. Endless Light was okay from what I remember, hoping this'll be the one to get me into them
|

Yeah album art definitely makes me want to like this.
|

These guys sounded good live, but I’ve never been able to get into them much.

"Love this album"
if Toon liked it this much I think Ima give it a listen.

Sow, Thrice keep drifting further away from a strong comeback with each release... Vheissu is their highest point, downhill from there...

My Thrice hopes are put in Black Peaks.
