I think this has an almost punkrockish appeal in some parts, so I don't get that Anathema thing...but mainly because I don't know ahah

This would honestly be my 2nd fave Elder if the vocals were like those on Reflections or Lore

Nice review but it reads like cope, def an underwhelming 3 on first listen.

Oh crap, didn't realized they just put out this. Band is aces, can't wait to jam for it.

"Embers" left me a bit cautiously optimistic when it came out, but it comes together beautifully in the full context of the album. As a review or two has already noted--Omens kinda feels like an extension of Reflections of a Floating World. Except, everything's crumbling apart and falling towards the ground while the music still maintains that feeling of being suspended in the air.

I haven't heard The Gold & Silver sessions so I can't comment too much on the band's evolution in sound, but I can definitely hear the krautrock grooves and spaciness on tracks like the opener especially. "Halcyon" is easily my favorite here though, sounding like an updated take on Lore and its sound with similarly crushing riffs and moments of euphoria.

loving this either way, and I regret doubting Elder in the first place.

(also here's a track-by-track write-up for anyone that might be interested: https://www.loudersound.com/features/elders-track-by-track-guide-to-new-album-omens?fbclid=IwAR1HwPX9lW6Tn-AvHichbpyFOfhvUc8l8knvdof_si8bzf3wYpLYItrJ6c4)

As much as I loved Lore and Reflections, I'm still on the fence with this one.

I mean it's all decent enough, but it just seems so… uneventful.

Gonna check this one outfit Dedex's recommendation to me a couple of days ago. Sounds like something up my alley.

A clearer, more subdued Elder... Hmm, going to take me some time to digest this.
