No it's closer to "Clairvoyant" Contortionist. But about 4x better than that album. Like if that album had been more inspired.

I think the Contortionist are the most overrated band on the whole scene - I'm not saying they are bad, but they are not the best either. and live they bore me to death

One of the leading (well, probably only) prog expert in Italy says they are the most influential band of the last decade

And I constantly scoff

people were noodling that way, way before Language was a thing

I don't hate the Contortionist and I enjoy the idea of their Language/ Clairvoyant albums. But I think they need a shot of energy on their next one.

That's exactly what they need. The nuance and restraint of Clairvoyant, but the energy of Language. I feel like with Mike not wanting to scream anymore unless he feels it necessary, they've moved on from that sound though.

I hope so. Language and Clairvoyant were supposedly sonic siblings because they were two parts of a concept. Here's to hoping that their next one is a little bit closer to the "Our Bones" EP.

I mean, depending on what scene we're talking about. I think they do some really cool stuff, but have yet to just hit it out of the park with their new sound. I enjoy Language every time I listen to it but I wouldn't say I hunt that album down. Same with Clairvoyant, although I've grown to appreciate the post rock atmosphere more and more. Seeing it live really did make it better.

I got into an altered state once not long after Language was released, popped it on the record player, sat two feet away, and spun the whole thing front to back in pure bliss.

Somehow it's never hit me the same afterward and I haven't felt the need to have another go-around except for the odd track that pops into my Spotify playlists.

So I went nuts on this record when I discovered it several months back, am returning to it now, and that wasn't just honeymoon hype. This thing is the real deal. Fuck me it's good.

Getting some shivers remembering back to the last time I listened to this in full in November.

In an AirBnB kinda-sorta in the rocky mountains. Enormous, chunky snowflakes falling. Dead silence. Maybe 2am. Took a couple g of really nice mushrooms earlier, and I listened to this record staring into a particularly pitch-black corner of the room I was sleeping in with my wife.

Just as the anxiety left for good and all I was left with was rolling waves of warm bliss and Hush Mortal Core.

It's so tough to express the feelings that go along with what amount to drug trips because of how subjective they are and meaningless to others, like hearing your buddy recall a really boring contextless dream. But my god, how vivid it still is for me.

Why, if the darkness in that ceiling didn't fade away and turn into the silhouettes of tree branches, and eventually to an impossibly wide field of stars. If I wasn't feeling every ounce of emotion poured into this record before, I sure was now. I noticed and appreciated many small production choices and flourishes I didn't even notice before.

Dang, this album will always hold a special place in my heart. Stunning.

Good question....it's not looking great, because I imagine that's a very expensive thing to do. He could open up preorders though so he's not out any money on unsold copies. This would absolutely be worth owning on vinyl.

Since the album release his main channel was Patreon with only digital releases and no physical on the radar...but even that has been silent of late

Martin Grech is so underrated, hope we won't have to wait too long for another brilliant record from him.

I just came here to ask where tf all the comments are, why isn't this a more popular album? I sure hope Martin is still creating music. Must have been frustrating not getting to properly tour this album when he released it.
