this has considerably more replay value than shrines for me, all about those atonal melodies

There’s not a lot of metal records more cathartic than shrines for me, but you gotta be ready to do it front to back - the first half just tears you down without the ascension of those last 3 tracks. It’s a really well embodied energy.

Every now and then I see Ulcerate's scores and try to hear what most people are hearing but I just can't. I feel their albums get repetitive and derivative all the time. Shrines is the only album I'm able to listen to from start to finish (most times) without getting bored. Am I the only one having this problem with Ulcerate?

This, EiF and Shrines are perhaps the holy triumvirate of ALL death metal. Okay, steady on, let me think about this for a minute...

...yeah, very few bands have pulled off 3 albums of such relentless quality and creativity. Death and Gorguts, sure it's close. After that I'm taking Ulcerate.
