Ulcerate got soft and that's my main issue with this. It's like TDoA but without the intensity, unpredictable songwriting or atmosphere. Also Inversion is trash.

Oh yeah, their style has really grown on me. Least to beast so far is Fractal, DoA, Vermis, and EiF. Since the last two have been pretty heavily praised I'm trying not to get my expectations too high

Honestly at this point eif is a top 10 all time album for me. Just so fucking good. The indescribable otherworldly rage is unparalleled in anything else I've ever heard

Shrines was more progressive whereas this is all about the variations, like an album's worth of songs approached in the same way as "Soullessness Embraced". Composition-wise this is more cyclical but I also agree it's better in part for that reason.
