On an aside I know its easy for people unfamiliar with any other nordic singers to compare them all to bjork even when the resemblance is barely perceptible (for example comparing karin dreijer from fever ray/the knife to bjork) but there certainly is a distinct tonality and inflection pattern with some Icelandic singers that is objectively distinct and plainly comparible. DOOF saying he doesnt hear Bjork comparisons here but inexplicably hears Bon Iver is utterly bewildering in that regard, and I cant help but feel like it is more just a bit of a try-hard flex on the fact that people with less exposure often DO say they hear Bjork in much less apt comparisons. In this case the Bjork comparison is entirely obvious and pretty much indisputible. The inflections and tonal patterns are unmistakable. She has a much more similar vocal style to Bjork than pretty much anyone else I've heard the comparison for. But it doesnt feel like she's biting her. The similarities stop at the vocals. I really think it's just something unique to Icelandic singers. With other nordic singers its just not quite as uncanny.

The music sounds like Bon Iver’s approach a little to me, specifically the S/T...not the lead vocals. This stood out to me because I expected this to be more electronic and/or cold/standoffish arty. Only really evident to me on half the songs...but mostly my favourite picks from this album.
I never said the singing sounds like Bon Iver
The vocals don’t sound like Bjork either to me, except maybe a slight inflection/accent from being from the same country
Does Thom Yorke sing like Ed Sheeran? No, etc

Didn't once think of Bjork when listening to this, though I can see Doof's BI comparison, more from an overall sonic & strictly musical perspective, obviously not vocally. The ambiance of this and BI,BI is definitely somewhere along the same wavelength, though, at least to my ears.

Also never said you said her vocals sound like bon iver? Just disagreed that any part of this sounds anything like bon iver
Bjork vocal comparisons are entirely evident. Those inflections are unique to Icelandic singers

Unique inflections in singing are a product of language and culture, traditional music often being a big one. Using two dudes from the uk as a counterpoint as if to say that not all singers from a country sound the same is mind-numbing. Not every icelandic singer is necessarily going to draw from that same cultural well either and I already explicitly said that not all nordic singers sound like bork so, quite obviously, I dont think all icelandic singers inevitibly sound like bork. You missed the point entirely if that's what you gleaned from that. Bork and JFDR definitely derive their vocal style from the same well of cultural influence. Thom yorke and ed sheeran obviously do not, as if iceland and the uk are even comparible in that regard. The homogeneity of nordic nations means their culture and traditions are a lot more defined. Might as well be comparing traditional african music to canadian music, wtf is that.

That shits like saying oumou sangare and miriam mokeba dont have similar vocal inflections and patterns because alanis morisette and celine Dion dont have similar singing inflections and patterns

Pots - I like this album
we move on
The fact you think everyone from Iceland sings the same is fine - maybe she also sings like Jonsi and the rest :/
I don't think she sounds MUCH like Bjork, I'd definitely say to my ears Karin Dreijer sounds way more like Bjork than these vocals.
Example 'What Else is There?' by Royksopp I thought the vocals were copycat Bjork when I first heard them. This doesn't sound like copycat Bjork at all to me.

Besides Bjork, I'm honestly woefully lacking on my Icelandic singer songwriters. Anyone have recommendations? Then maybe you could get a third voice on this conversation lol but I would still be woefully out of place
Without a doubt, it's this, Honey Harper, or Moses Sumney as my AOTY so far. This I think is winning, which is saying something with those other two releases.

I'm also surprised by how often tunes from this get stuck in my head. It's surprisingly catchy and pretty accessible. I've gotten a few people interested in it that normally wouldn't give the genre a look

'And Emiliana Torrini' (2) - I predicted this Trif response.
I'm definitely checking this... I saw Lapalux, I saw an argument about Bjork, I see mostly good users with favourable scores. Sold. Mostly the Lapalux thing tbh, I love her vocal contributions to that project.
