Alex Rudinger's drumming neutered this band for me quite a bit. More wooden. Less creative. Hate to see it.

Dude, his drumming is literally the high point of this album...

it's more showy, but doesn't touch the dynamics of danny honestly

Idk, it just sounds more robotic. And yes, less dynamic.

Not really understanding the complaints in the review about ‘mids’, given the guitar is a midrange instrument and far too many metal bands scoop them right out. This is the album of theirs I keep coming back to the most, just fantastic arrangements. I also find the vocals to be a net positive, not just passable.

I definitely appreciate the synth/keyboard additions to their harmonies this time around, adds a lot to tracks like Tripolar

Yes, this is good. Great drumming. Singing not the best element but not terrible.

Some solid riffing

Final verdict is lex is too technical imo whereas Danny had a bigger groove aspect in his stuffs

I do miss Danny’s Latin grooves he would throw in there. Him and Joe were easily my favorite rhythm section in metal.

Allegations against Danny iirc were well founded and numerous, if something came out since then absolutely vindicating him I'm unaware and as far as I'm concerned him and his grooves can get fucked.

Drumming on this record rules and I'm happy for them to move on with someone less shitty.

Just need me some new Intronaut [3]
