Jammed this because I'm always for mid-2000s-core nostalgia.
This album scratched that itch but it was incredibly dull in every other aspect.

i listened to a few of the middle songs and honestly less terrible than i expected. the lyrics are as usual, cringe, but the hooks were....decent? now it's the rest of the band as the main culprit for this being ass. they're doing absolutely nothing to keep my attention.

It sounds similar to Slaves or Too Close to Touch. Disposable, but honestly for one listen it's OK. Can't see myself replaying the album anytime soon though, that would also lead to probably lowering the rating and I'm comfortable leaving it where it is. Telle does sound pretty good here, can't lie.

"Initially formed as nothing more than a Blessthefall lite by current Escape the Fate frontman Craig Mabbitt, conflicting schedules caused Craig to be booted out in favor of Telle Smith, and after they exhausted the tiny amount of creativity within them on Deceiver it's more or less been a downhill slope ever since"
pos'd for this perfect summary of the bands career. Telle actually responded to me on Instagram recently. I saw the were on tour with BTF and ETF and I commented that they better have craig sing some throwbacks with them like The Devil Inside and Casanova Rodeo. He responded (a bit defensively) to tell me they have already done that before and won't be playing anything pre-Lifecycles ever again.
The fact that this dude can't accept that the bands best work is in the past is really sad.

Telle is so delusional man. I used to love him, he was one of my favorite vocalists
Dude peaked as a vocalist on REAL and then just got significantly worse with each release, he sounds so weak now

yeah it's been sad watching them devolve. Telle used to be amazing. The guitarists used to shred. Now nobody even tries. It's just so sad.

Luke Holland got out just in time

Telle's ego killed the band

Idk how Zack and Tony don't get bored as hell playing this shit, both can shred and riff so hard

I know, imagine spending all those years becoming amazing guitarists and then just...playing power chords every day

Is this band even pulling in decent money these days?

I just remember this band opening for Parkway on their Ire tour and pretty much no one gave a shit about them.
|
| |
their fanbase seems kinda huge for the scene so i'd like to think there's money being made

@Kembo they were actually featured on the pro-League of Legends world finals' official song w/ Glitch Mob: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB8TyLTD7EE - I'm sure they got a pretty penny from that (186M views on that song too). awful song though.
this album sucks though. its hilarious because i ended up on the video for MONOMANIA while watching another youtube interview at 1.25 speed, and it is actually significantly better than at normal speed LOL its wild and i recommend at least just witnessing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhOLhwNzN58

Funny because I first saw these guys with Parkway but on the Atlas tour back in 2013 and they were so fucking good, played so much Life Cycles/Deceiver/Empire shit it was one of the best shows I've ever been to
|
| |
Back When Deceiver was first dropping they played Warped and it was awesome, they were never the same after that one though
|
| |
The Parkway show was in Canberra so a lot less people. The line up was these guys, Memphis May fire, Thy art and then Parkway. I felt bad for these guys though.

Damn you get a two-for-one special on bands far passed their prime with TWA and MMF.
Following Telle on Twitter is a great source of cringe, just constantly liking every tweet that somewhat mentions the band positively. Dude is anti-humble.
|
| |
Memphis may fires set was fucking awful. Mullins sat on a stool with a stupid fucking hat. He's mic cut out a few times. When thy art came on that was when things actually happened Winston came on for a thy art (Coffin dragger)

its decent. Catchy songs, nothing too special, but it does the job. Never been huge into them anyway.
