I liked them then.
Dur.

loolipops. na, they're a band that if you see them live, they kinda get boring

Not sure what's wrong with some of you, Green Day is the best live show I've ever seen.
Anyway, most of your assumptions on the song meanings are wrong. For those that are curious, here are the meanings for all of their songs: http://www.greendayauthority.com/TheBand/songmeanings.phpThis Message Edited On 12.22.05
Eliminator, you pretty much said their music was bad. People don't just go from liking a band one minute, to thinking they're music is bad the next.
It was a gradual thing from around January last year until now. And I saw them last May.
Everyone hates Green Day because of American Idiot, because they did something they normally wouldn't do.
Nah, it's more like because the music sucks, their attitude sucks, and people that constantly defend Green Day and the album are annoying.
Just because you don't like it doen't mean it sucks, Eliminator.
Well, considering that I think it sucks, then it sucks.
Punk music from the beginning was about doing your own thing. By doing something that people weren't expecting shows that Green Day still has that punk attitude.
Yeah, but did punk know that Green Day was going to write a terrible psuedo-rock opera, or that Green Day would suddenly obtain this "we are rockstars" attitude over and a psuedo-intellect, that of which is equal to a 13 year old's? Nah.

This guy is still defending this band? Hasn't this lasted since I first joined? Jesus Christ.

That's what rabid fanboys do.

Meh, most Green Day is boring nowadays, and what I do like mainly is Dookie, but that has gotten old since it's been out for over 10 years and Green Day hasn't made anything good enough to replace it.

Hey everyone, opinions are crazy, you know? Like...some critics like this album and some don't? That's all down to opinion. Or the example of how some albums among the biggest selling of all time are great in my opinion, and some aren't? Really, try accepting that some people disagree with you, and there's no such thing as objectively proving that you're right or that you're wrong in terms of how good an album is.
|
| |
Oh, I wasn't making the point at you in particular...you just happened to post before me. I'm just trying to make the point to anyone who reads my post that whether or not music is good is subjective. It can't be tested or proved in any way, so really there's no point in trying to prove it, and saying that "my opinion is fact" gets really old and boring after a while.
Thats an extremely biased comment coming from and extremely ignorant person. I don't even know why I listen to half the people on this site. If the album is so terribe, why is it selling so well
Because it's commercially accessable.
Talent and good music generally has nothing to do with record sales, but it's all objective I guess.
He even said
"Well, considering that I think it sucks, then it sucks." like he is the all knowing master of everything that is good
You intepreted that wrong. What I saying was that, it's my opinion, so to me it does suck.
Stop getting all excited because someone doesn't like Green Day.

Punk, Pop/punk
Tomato, Tomahto
Some people classify things differently. I don't think this is a punk album, but some people do it's all a matter of opinion.
