Just had a long overdue sitdown with this with the lyrics, wow.

Snapped the whole thing into focus, brilliant

Great fucking feel for tying lines to the next with interior rhyme.

Gonna have to try a free write while this thing's cadence is still buzzing holy holy

Just went through them now, and hot damn I didn't realise these narratives were so explicitly connected

Right? Way it ties things together by distinctive features (Pale eyes, blonde wig, stained dress) and leaves the interpretation wide open is so very mmm

Need more southern gothic noir pretty please

Like is Death Croons happening on the very same night as Made for Me?

Signs point to yes

But signs also point to no

That is a good point! I underestimated the narrative depth!

Seriously though, I'm losing it even more to Machete as a closer now. I feel like Sweat could have worked lyrically as a "we get it" note to end on, but then the bois dish out one hell of a final act no-one knew they needed, with all the same tropes, mainly new characters, and somehow even more absurd suspense and stakes? Incredible song

Yeah, right? To bury that huge fucking lead as an aside in Sing Me to the Street, and then come back as crushing, and even more heavy because you know the ending in advance that the actual story cuts before reaching -

This might be a reach, but it kind of feels like a similar structure to the way Fox Dreams of the Log Flume's narrative prologue/chronological epilogue details make Bear's Vision hit even harder

But yeah Machete might be the best here and this thing never stops hitting from the word Go

Ah yeah, I feel you re. Fox's Dream, although that one's a pretty heavy foregrounding whereas Sing Me to the Street is something you'd be lucky to catch on repeats if you weren't combing. Same goes with all the Ben & Lily foreshadowing in the opener and Serafina

I just love that this thing can kick off with one long description of a girl in front of a mirror/window, and end up with a morbid epic that might as well summarise a whole novel. Superb performance, every step of the way. Maybe imma bump

Would not be surprise if this crawls into the 5s at some point (not that I'm a stern guard handing those around lol)

Just absolutely seething and choking, like drowning in the spew from a ruptured car oil line you're trying to fix.

An over arch journey of petrol and fuckage. Fucking adore a record that steps up and makes you invest in the lyrics alongside the tunez. The elliptical approach to Ben & Lily is so beautifully rendered.

Was gonna reply saying baby steps and this has a couple of weaker songs, but then there was a small earthquake so maybe it should have been a bigger bump
