The album is worth a listen purely for the vocals alone, Kyo is on another level.
P much the Japanese equivalent of Mike Patton.

Their run from this through to Arche is insane, all vastly different from one another and extremely varied.
Spinning this for the first time in a while and Vinushka gets me every time, damn.

kinda, in range I guess. I don't think Kyo ever had the goofball/deprecatory factor that has always been at the heart of Patton's vibe; Yamantaka Eye is probs a better fit and has a more comparable legacy

Was more in terms of range tbh, he can do anything.
I love Diru but the music itself without Kyo's multi-faceted vocals wouldn't be nearly as engaging.

Yeah for real, difference between a good metal band and an amazing performance act - the man's pure spectacle, and it carries on tape like no-one's business

Hope he is looking after himself better nowadays though, the amount of surgeries he's had/tours the band have had to cancel due to how he used to perform was crazy.

Just reslistened to this again for the first time in a few months, truly never gets old. Worthy of my #1 album spot for sure.

You shouldn’t have said anything; that started me down the wormhole and I find eBay has the 2CD/1DVD/vinyl box sets of this and DSS for between $~85-140, free shipping. Curses be upon thee.
… oh, and you can find a R&E cd on Discogs for about $10, sooooo…..

[edit:] both are between that price amount, I didn’t mean a package deal.

R&E is CD only; what you’re describing there is the original version of the album. I remember it being pretty cheap not too long ago, it’s the first pressing that’s nigh impossible to track down. I lament not snapping it up when it first came out.
