So easy for the heartbreakingly brilliant lyrics to overshadow everything here, but Woods gave David a perfect instrumental backing for this

Amen. Have heard some people refer to this album as a “suicide note” and that doesn’t feel right. So many moments here feel like they’re searching for a reason to keep up the struggle. A true tragedy he didn’t find one. Feels pretty close to Floating in the Firth in that respect.

yeah fuck that this album is full of hope. sad, desperate hope maybe but it's there all the same

I think some people can't help themselves when it comes to the Blackstar/YWID/Skeleton Tree type albums, they lump them all in the same boat despite their significant differences

album is genuinely one of my favourites at this point - probably sneaks up as my favourite of 2019 now

songs build little rooms in time

and housed within the song's design

is the ghost the host has left behind

to greet and sweep the guest inside

stoke the fire and sing his lines
