Compared to the preceding tracks, Consuming Lies feels subpar, for me at least.

Same for Culmination, for its up tempo - almost boogie - segment ruins the somber atmosphere created thus far.

Genre and album is a patience effort agreed. Just set the tracks Voivod said were subpar (I disagree haaard) f.e.

I just don't hear songs here or perhaps this type of songwriting doesn't appeal to me.

You definitely hear an album that rules though. But yeah, funeral doom is demanding. Sometimes i eat a sandwich between 2 bass drum kicks and digest it before the 3d kicks in.
