The slight issue I have with “Not” is that it’s unbalanced. Like, the actual song isn’t that interesting to me beyond its gradual building of tension which the coda releases. Obviously neither part would work without the other and the payoff is worth it, so it works, but I’m always left wanting more. It’s a great piece of music but it doesn’t really mean anything. Then again I feel that way about a lot of Big Thief/Lenker songs. I know a lot of people are saying “Not” is their best song of the year even if Two Hands is the weaker album but I honestly like 4-5 songs on UFOF better than it (and for what it’s worth maybe even a couple songs here too).

Lenker is the draw for me in regards to Big Thief and Capacity is definitely her most personal and affecting performance so it just does the trick for me

I heard “Not” on XM radio earlier today but it was a radio edit that cut the guitar solo down to like 20 seconds and it was the biggest blue balls I’ve ever gotten.
