"A lot of people like their heavy songs, like Your Own Knife and Choke, I personally think that's the weakest aspect of their sound."

Agreed even tho I usually dig their straight up aggressive af tracks. I'll take any of the other 10 tracks on here over Your Own Knife easily.

They have some pretty great aggro tracks (especially Choke imo) but the melodies are the real high points of Counterparts. It's all about that catharsis my doods

Counterparts always makes that one really heavy song on every album and Your Own Knife is probably the weakest out of all their heaviest songs like if I have to rate it, it goes in order heaviest to weakest:

Slave

Theives

Choke

Your Own Knife

funny thing is the guitar work in both YOK and Choke are basically the same but I like Chokes breakdown more. Idk man, it’s like YNYA had heavier stuff like memory misread and swim beneath my skin and if makes YOK seem basic. I was disappointed that they chose that to be the ‘heavy’ song it was pretty mediocre at best.

Sonically is slays, lyrically it's a rehashed ideas of what they've done on a previous albums.

I think Cherished is tied with Ocean of Another for me. But it changes often.
