Can't stop listening to this again for some reason. Just feels like the right season for it - 50° and chilly, sun setting earlier each day, breezy with leaves all falling to the ground and dying.

Returning to this after a year. My thoughts as already voiced by others:

"The hate for this is a shame, but I can understand being disappointed. How could they ever possibly top Deathcon"

"I feel like they wanted to mesh both sides of their sound. The depressed surfer rock jams alongside the ominous, droning, post rock ambient tracks"

"vox are a bit characterless, songs stretch on a bit too long but its moody and comfy and feels like early eighties stuff in certain ways"

"That Destinos sample goes on way too long."

"it keeps building towards something interesting but never gets there"

"3 feels too low and 3.5 is perhaps too much"

I wonder if the vocal mix on Destinos and the other drone tracks is on purpose. There are a few small payoffs for a lot of time invested in listening to this record; the utility here isn't great. I like "Tresspassers W" the most.

Destinos has always had that sample, Voids came out in 2009 with that same sample on the same song, they just rerecorded it.

The original version of Tresspassers W on Voids is a LOT better than the one on this album.

i listened to this again today and it's OKAY, i don't like how the vocals sound on rly any of the songs, the dracula song is good too but that and science beat are really it. a lot of these songs honestly just remind me of a more boring version of Weed or like, modern color or something idk

Ok so the highs on Deathcon are obviously mindblowing, but it really loses me after “Hunter” and doesn’t draw me back until “Holy Fucking Shit: 40,000”. TUW is obviously way more concise and consistent and for that reason I find it a more satisfying listening experience. But obviously if I could only hear one HANL album for the rest of my life it would be Deathcon.
