Wow, weird isn't it? And annoying! Why are we like that?

I think it's because when I'm not listening to it I think about how Kodama and Ecailles are 5/5 masterpieces which this is not, so there is always that comparison in my head about it being inferior (especially being their latest release), but then I listen to it and I'm like.. it's actually really good! they just set the bar too damn high for their own good

This might be it. Also I think it could have to do with this not being something new for them, it definitely falls in the more of the same category. Which is fine, but not something super noteworthy.

Hard to explain but I guess that could explain it too.

They just dropped this very weird interpretation of Protection apparently called the "(Ben Chisholm Version)". it's uh, it's something.

Yeah that's one of the best ones here. I still think the second half is better than the first.

Le Miroir makes me feel like I'm lost in a maze of magic mirrors. "Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep 0.2 A fragmentary passage" anyone?

These guy's ripped off the riff from 1476's "Odessa" in the first track. I would say coincidence if 1476 hadn't played it live at the same gig as Alcest in late 2017.

This is the weakest Alcest but that's saying something. There are one or two singles on here that are still NUT tier.

Just listened to Odessa again, very familiar with the album but to refresh my memory, and Alcest did not lift a single riff from that song. Perhaps someone is just musically deaf.

The riff is at 1:55 of "les jardins de minuit". You could be musically deaf and still hear the similarity. Album is okay otherwise.

Just got this for $7, and I'm really liking what I'm hearing so far.

Le Miroir is good daydream fuel.
