Haven’t heard Chimaira, but this sounds like Mayhem at their most straightforward/mainstream.

As for the sound... They have done much better in previous albums.

"this is the best music this band has made tbh" [2]

it's near-perfect, dark, heavy black metal. amazing production, yet not over-produced or overly polished.

I'd put DMDS a little over this just because of its importance to bm at the time it was released but this album is easily very close in terms of quality

I think most bands are better off not putting out music videos because of the cost involved, and also to add a bit of obscurity to the band's identity. I mean, who actually wants to watch a bunch of dudes in a video play a song? Not me. I'd rather they use that money to put out cool merch and promote themselves.

my appreciation of the Blasphemer-era has significantly risen over time. I hope this happens to the Teloch-era as well, but so far this hasn't clicked.

I'm not personally a fan of music videos but the video my band put out definitely got the song a lot more streams. It's now up around 125000 streams on spotify and I dont think it would've gotten there otherwise
