Have only heard the singles from this but i'd be damn'd if Close to the Edge isn't an absolute banger

Great first paragraph, I have been realising how far I've come in the past 9-10 years myself, only today in fact - so this was a REALLY timely review.

As for the album...not my thing. I'd rather have Tool-lite (or even Foo Fighters/Hoobastank like in A Beautiful Lie) than pseudo modern-day Coldplay.

Kings and queens has the most hilarious break ever when Jared sings "The age of man is over". It would have been cool if he morphed into an orc in the video.

it's pretty sad they went from this album to that pile of crap they made 8 years later, literally one the worst albums i've ever heard

this is an excellent review, only thing I noticed was "This is War is lightening in a bottle" - should be "lightning"

I still think this album is overblown, hollow trash obsessed with its own self-importance without saying anything, and this was definitely the turning point for Jared to turn into the creepy douchebro of Hollywood that no one likes but somehow keeps getting cast in things. it really is amazing how both his acting and music careers drove off a hella steep cliff at about the same time and now he's... basically a cult leader, lmao.

having said all that, I really fucking love Alibi. props for that one song

aren't there legit allegations against Leto already from some of the people who left the thing he's running on some island which is very clearly a cult?

if there's not I'm putting money down there will be within the year

Lmao of course the dude who made this is enough of an egomaniac to start a cult

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if this happened. The guy also gives me the creeps. Super talented guy, but there's definitely something off about him.

His tribute performance of Alibi for Chester fucking ached though.

To this day I still really dig the first two albums but this one did nothing for me. The video to closer to the edge is the cheesiest shite I've ever watched as well
