I mean, Piano Burning is a pretty ridiculous closer. Those sudden "pops" completely ruin the ASMR experience the "song" has going for it.

also why is it so fucking long lol

I think it's a little unfair to criticize it for being unsuccessful as an "asmr experience" since I get the sense that wasn't at all what they were going for.

Idk if I can really defend the length though, my maxim that most 10+ minute songs would benefit from being cut down to under 10 minutes also applies to postmodern sound art (or whatever the fuck genre it is).

@Blushful Yes. My car speakers are so immersive, if I have the volume even remotely high enough it scares the shit out of me every time.

"You don't even need to listen to it all, I don't think, it just ties everything together in a very interesting and oddly relevant way."

I just place high value in closers personally so when there's a closer that you don't even need to listen to once it seems like a frustrating waste of time :/ But this is also coming from the guy who thinks that 25-minute-long Burzum song is a joke

And Blush honestly that opener is the only thing I'll come back to hahaha, it's so fun! It's maybe a bit generic compared to this other stuff but it's still very exciting and melodic which I love

Gah I want to like this because it's obviously a labor of love for everyone involved, and there are moments where it all comes together and just blows me away but this is just doing nothing for me overall

Why a rapper as technically gifted as Daveed Diggs feels the need to make almost every song he makes so disjointed and unsatisfying to listen to is a complete goddamn mystery

I disagree with your "piano burning" take specifically, also I think "Run for your Life" is one of the better tracks here and IIRC you didn't care for that one

Couldn't it have just been one of those miniature toy pianos?
