To be completely honest, I'm a little shocked at how lukewarm people are on this album. The Early November will never be that 2001 emo band again. Clearly they've moved on and graduated to a more substantial/eclectic sound over the last 15 years. It's got a bit of Balance and Composure vibe to it (do yourself a favor and listen to Light We Made). I understand, it's different. That said, I started listening to this band when I was 16. I'm 32 now. This album stands up to me as their best work to date. Front to back. If you read the album reviews and interviews from Ace he indicates how much time and effort he put into it (over 3 years). Each song tells a story. All in all this is a solid 5.0 for me. No song skips, which is a rare occurrence for me.

I had never listened to this band until this dropped, I really enjoyed it and went and saw them live ... incredible energy and am now a big fan of them.

Thats kinda how I feel about this. It didn't get any bigger because it wasn't doing anything really novel or original. Still a pleasant album through and through

apparently the new album is re-recorded versions of old b-sides so yeah Room's Too Cold comparisons aren't far-fetched hah. interested to check it tho

yeah "new" single is actually one of my favorite TEN songs lol, it was on the acoustic ep
I used to have a lot of their demos and rarities back in the day, glad to see some of them are finally getting a proper release

I’ve listened to the acoustic EP but didn’t remember the track so they changed it enough I didn’t notice haha

I just want them to be that In Currents band again. Easily their best album and they keep trending in the wrong direction. Really not a fan of any of the singles they've released so far.
This album sounds like an Ace Enders side project to be perfectly honest.

Well FWIW most of these tracks are old being re-done or properly released they aren’t new. Also, AFAIK TEN is basically just Ace and Jeff now. So it’s not that far off to say it sounds like an Ace side project lol.
I agree though would love more In currents sound
Edit: just realized you were talking about Lilac and not the new stuff. Nevermind
