That I Can Make A Mess album was wild back in its day. Remember it being pretty eclectic.

the first two I Can Make a Mess albums are some of my favourite Ace work ever, especially the s/t. the way they flow as one song is ridiculously well done. I've never heard anything from that project since World We Know, I should change that

"For All of This was the first CD I bought with my own money so I always had an attachment to these guys but I never remotely thought they'd be as good as they are now"
pretty cool to own that, that is my fave release by them or at least the demo version of it, I heard it in a time when I didn't even know what an EP was and just fell in love with. and yeah the end of the Path is still such a mindblowing moment

it's quiet at work today so I decided to just discog run I Can Make a Mess in full, so I'll hear Enola soonish lol
is it a hot take to think the first four songs on The World we Know are the best work he ever did?

also I love those FAOT demos a lot, I think if they'd recorded Open Eyes, Five Years and Pretty Pretty for the official release it would've topped Room's too Cold

yeah I had that EP all mixed up cause I used to download all my shit on limewire back in high school so like demo tracks and the final recordings, for a while I thought those versions of Everynight's and All We Ever Needed were the only ones so I was bummed when I heard the final takes as I still think they sounded better as demos, and those you mentioned I didn't hear until later as well when I dug deeper

The Room's too Cold stil my least favorite which is weird cause I'm a sucker for emo and the lot and I think that's the sound they were going for with that record, of course I love Ever so Sweet just like everyone else and Fluxy is still such a jam

I love those two, the closer and Mountain Range a whole lot but yeah I've always found it kind of inconsistent. weirdly it works better as an album than For All of This, but FAOT is just eight straight bangers in a row so it goes down easier
also holy shit. Lions was goddamn fucking amazing, I've been sleeping on that song

new TEN? aww sheet. 3.4 makes me think it's not as good as the last one, but still excited

In Currents is one of my favorite albums ever and imo easily TEN's best. Imbue and Lilac have not lived up to that probably impossible standard. Still good though. IMO the best song on Imbue is still just an alternate version of an In Currents song lol.

you see, what they did on I Dissolve is the reason I love this band but I hate the way he delivers the vocals on You Own my Mind, its like they would sound cool on a hip hop or r&b track I guess but seem out of place for me here

@dream Imbue has some of Ace's best vocal moments (Narrow Mouth, Better This Way, etc)

No doubt Imbue has some fantastic songs and is a great album overall and if the entire album was as good as the first two tracks then yea it'd be a classic. The first 7 tracks of In Currents are basically untouchable though. As far as vocals go, Frayed in Doubt and Guilt & Swell are as good as anything I've heard from him. The hooks are the best of their career and it's also their most technical work implementing a lot of pseudo-post rock elements. The bridge on Guilt & Swell is so impressive, has to be my favorite moment of his entire career.

First listen, I like it alot. Not sure why its average is so low unless it gets worse with each listen.

Saw these guys live last week and they were incredible. Shockingly one of my favorite concerts of the year.

they rule live, I'm still bummed that I couldn't catch a show

Talk to Ace after a show not too long ago. Sucks Joe's not in the band anymore. Wonder if it effected the writing process at all

wait is he out for real? I know that some of TEN members sort of take some breaks and shit from touring and this has been going since they got back together and I know he's Foxing's manager
I remember talking to joe at warped tour at their tent after the show and he was really cool, gave me a bunch of sweet merch for free
|
| |
He's their manager now. So no more touring and I assume he's not in on the writing process. Is he credited at all on Lilac? He's got a donut shop in FishTown now, so thats his primary focus.
