For good reason. A lot of us had to watch the years we spent on their content go down the shitter for nothing

the channel awesome rabbit hole is almost impressive
the amount of toxicity in that collection is... something.

With that said, I still watch some of the people who jumped ship. Still a fan of Lindsay Ellis (who I think got way better when she left), Todd in the Shadows, Angry Joe (although not as much anymore), Linkara, and maybe a few others

@DavidYowi just gave the clip a watch. didnt watch the full vid yet but yea wow. demo reel is honestly p fascinating.
doug walker is like a passable film reviewer but such a bad comedian. he just does not know how to be funny or grow humor-wise. his musical criticisms are awful. i also used to like him as a little kid and i think it was because he was kind of doing the same... lo-fi "walk you through the piece of media and complain about it" angle james rolfe was doing but worse. i think it was just the fact that i enjoyed being walked through the film and back then being loud and random equaled being funny lol

Honestly he's not even a good film critic. Most of his critiques are about shit like plot holes and doesn't even touch on stuff like narrative themes or atmosphere. His early stuff is honestly ground zero for shit like CinemaSins. But yeah he's also incredibly unfunny. For someone who hates the Freidberg & Seltzer movies he does the same thing of mistaking movie references as jokes. Like there are so many episodes where he just shows a movie clip instead of actually writing a joke.
I was such a huge fan of him as a kid, so much so that I thought to myself "I want to be like the Nostalgia Critic when I grow up"

Plus, To Boldly Flee might actually be the worst movie of all time. The irony of that is delicious

I don't really hate NC just lost interest in watching him. I think the last review I might of like was The Starship Troopers. But that's mostly because it's one of my favorite movies. I still like some stuff from Phelous, Cinema Snob and Mike Jeavons and maybe some others. That's mostly it though.
