Kinda surprised by the user ratings, guess the early review influenced a lot of people. Album's great.

Or maybe people have a different opinion than you :>. It has clear weaknesses and brings almost nothing new or better than they did before, I know is a genre that it is what it is but they normally excel , for me at least, for that reason this is a letdown but its not a bad album.

3.7? That's more like it

Going over my value stream at work and I got a chance to give this a pretty focused listen without too many interruptions. Overall, I am digging it. The instrumental at the end if a bit of a odd duck; I feel like Heart like a Grave might have been a better closer?

What were they on when they wrote Pale Morning Star? Imagine an entire album of that caliber...

Yeah Pale Morning Star is gold, i think is one of the best songs from them in general

If everything on here were as good as Pale Morning Star, it would probably be the best Insomnium album

It's a top 5 track for this band for sure, likely even top 3. Vanhala is the sole credit for the music - I think that's his masterpiece.
Got the silver vinyl in the mail today, looks great, they did a fantastic job with the layout.

imo insomnium is one of those bands that’s so fucking good (and consistently so) that even very strong records seems pedestrian

Album reminds me why we need new Arghoslent, this blows.

For all and any potential criticisms this may rightly deserve I know before listening I'm prolly gonna 5 it

neverlast goes in

The two bonus tracks suck though, glad they weren't on the main thing

After two consecutive listens I'm smitten, but that's been my reaction to pretty much every Insomnium album (except One for Sorrow). I'll be reserving my rating until I've fully digested this thing.
The two bonus tracks don't suck. They're wonderful. (But then I love the Shadows of a Dying Sun album, so WTF do I know?)

i've had like 8 listens now and i'm sitting squarely on a 3.5 - tracks that did nothing on me thankfully grew, there aren't any bad tracks on here, but as far as truly excellent ones go there are only two. rather than me giving this a charitable 3.5 i'd say it solidly sits there now so i'm pretty happy.

It's as safe as an Insomnium album can be

for sure, which is sad. Atleast the production is nice (apart from the quiet cymbals)

It’s pretty damn good but overall might be their weakest album for me. 4 it is

"It's as safe as an Insomnium album can be"
Band's been playing it safe since their second album. They have their gimmick and they stick with it
|

Album is pretty solid. Neverlast is one of the best songs they've done
