I think it has a lot in common with Praparat, very subtle psych/gaze bits interspersed with the drone stuff.

Not including Pink in that list is heresy

Akuma at max volume is definitely the best boris appetizer

you know

Pink is good but I am going to be honest, the middle portion doesn't hit as hard as the first four tracks and Just Abandoned Myself

Pink's definitely overrated but it's got some DAMN fine tracks (title track in particular is surely one of their best ever.) Akuma & Heavy Rocks (guess which one) are my favorite from what i've heard so far. Saw 'em in Houston a month ago & it was such a beautiful experience, i loved "Love" so i'm pretty excited to hear this

like the beginning of Pink just hits you like a fucking bus then it doesn't really have that kind of impact as it goes along

I’m always partial to Pink because that was the first full Boris album I listened to, but for Johnny, it may be best to start with Attention Please or New Album, then go Akuma No Uta, Smile, Pink, etc., and then ending around stuff like Absolutego or Dear.

Akuma No Uta is their best non-drone album without a doubt. Heavy Rocks rules too though, and it is incredibly underrated.

I've never even heard these guys, but I definitely wish I could write direct, concise reviews like this.
