So, growing up in Europe, where no-one other than middle school nerds cares about UFOs, I was convinced Tom was a bit of a nut job – just of the Californian rather than Texan variety, but definitely at the margin of the mainstream. But I've lived here for a while and a surprising number of people, including young educated women, actually believe in this stuff. Same with astrology. Crazy.
