Francis just has gotten shit. I mean he's the one who wrote all the classic shit so you'd think the problem lies with him. Kim Deal just played simple basslines in the bg but didn't really contribute much.

I know people don't like thinking about it, but if pixies never broke up back in the 90s and kept releasing new albums all the way up to today, I'm pretty sure it'd still sound as tired as this.

Black Francis still had some tunes in him as his solo career isn't totally devoid of them so I think they would have been better than this...but on the same trajectory

15 years ago I probably would've agreed, but the more I go back to Black's solo stuff, the less I like it. And I never really loved the Breeders either.
Hindsight's 20/20 and all that, but people that were clammoring for a reunion back in the day (including me) should've saw the signs and just cashed out.
