I'm liking the vibe. It's like they're channeling Eloy, Yes with some Sabbathy doom on this one. Like some alternate universe late 70s prog rock. Are we judging them harder because of crazy expectations?

Definitely miss Choirs era too. My intro to the band and Driver, it blew my mind at the time. Still very timeless music.

Still getting my claws into this, but very confused as to how The Something Opal can be put above Vanishing Act in Blinding Grey.
Nearest thing I have to a hot take so far is that Driver needs to outgrow Byron, but I might take this back depending

I can see that I guess, but it really isn't bothering me. Feels like Driver in the zone all across this thing.

You're all tripping, this is great.
Edit: But yeah, the second half of Vanishing, vocal wise, it's a bit weird.

Toby's vocal performance in the 2nd half of "An Eye for a Lie" is pretty impressive and amazing imo. He really gives it his all.

^ agreed. And as I understand it, the part of the story is about Blasphemy killing one of the characters and ripping his tongue out. If so it's a good fit.
It might even be my favorite track. Though #2 and #6 are also excellent.

I really want to read the lyrics but they haven't been posted online yet. I'm planning on buying the box set if its still available so I guess I'll have to wait until then.
Also, a lot of the bonus tracks from the album are really diverse and interesting. "Voyage of the Avarice" in particular sounds like it could be a successful pop radio song. I think the praise the album is getting is well deserved. I was admittedly lukewarm to it on the first few listens but its really grown on me pretty quickly.
