There is a new Toby Driver song and no one cares

Its ok but I prefer the electronic optimism of PHOBOS over his latest song, but its ok. I think instrumentally is where it succeeds but lyrically I thought it was kind of pretentious. Harkened back to Dowsing Anemone era Toby/KD which was cool.

where is this song

What mostly sucks about current KD is that the majority of the original members are gone. It's the Toby/Ron show now.

Only just listened to the new Toby song and good Lord, is it good - it blows Blasphemy out of the water.
>"lyrically I thought it was kind of pretentious"
Really? I find N.G.H.4.M. to be incredibly honest lyrically and emotionally. If what I've heard on the grapevine is true, I see it as a reflection of Toby's struggles with record labels. It comes across as the declaration of a man who has given up trying to make it big - it's such a sad but liberating track.
Unless I'm just interpreting it completely wrong

Dammit, I keep forgetting I need to listen to that.

Every time I've seen KD, they've always played at some shitty club that I've never even heard of. It makes no sense based on the cult following the band has. I see more bands/artists I've never heard of in my life playing at bigger venues around my city. KD couldn't even be booked to one of these. What gives? I'm not sure who books shows for them, but that definitely has something to do with them not getting any bigger.
Also, their website looks like it's from the 90's: http://www.kayodot.net/

lyrically it's pretentious but musically I liked it better than this, definitely

Is this new song y'all are referring to that electronic thing on the Kayo Dot/Toby Bandcamp? Onixsya imama or whatever....it's goofy though

Nope. His solo song. 3.5/5 for me. I think his new IDM stuff is pretty bland. I hope I'm proven wrong when he drops the EP.

Oh I did listen to pieces of that, it's so long though I'll have to give it proper attention.

yeah its a pretty dynamic track, but im just waiting for him to go 'out there' again like on PHOBOS. give us something weird, new, and crazy. right now he is treading old/ comfortable waters he's been in before, albeit some of it more focused. i'm sure many would rather it be that way.

I feel like he tread the line perfectly between synth and classical instrumentation with TATS. I don’t care so much about the uber synthy stuff

it's not as much about the synths for me as it is about the whole package. i never hear anyone talk about the insanity in regards to how perfectly the bass and drums interact on PHOBOS. its so full of groove yet highly intricate. waiting for something like that to come along.

Can there please be an optional version with the auto-tune and hip hop parts edited out of An Eye for a Lie? This album is 90% SO AWESOME and with this one change I would be all the fuck about it.
