"I'm just saying that if you are going to make the claim of not being able to separate 'art' from 'artist', it seems extremely naive and tone deaf to do so selectively."

Maybe he does the same for Varg

I'm failing to see any inconsistency here. Varg is also a racist nazi piece of shit in addition to being a murder. I can't speak for everyone, but the system I abide by doesn't necessarily exclude me from listening to music made by bad people, I just don't monetarily support them and generally make sure to acknowledge why. This seems to be a pretty common system.

As for me, yeah, i can separate art from artist. I can't separate art from a Nazi sympathiser artist, am i clear enough? And i don't listen to Burzum, haven't heard anything from them (him) and i don't intend to. Do you find me selective? So be it.

I wish I could understand why this is such a frustrating issue for a lot of black metal dorks. It's not like there's this huge wave of wokescolders harassing you to stop listening to bands because they're bad people, it's just basic acknowledgement of the pretty big fascist underbelly in the scene.

Separating art from artist is a fundamental fallacy, all art is representative of the ideology of the artist. Most people don't care if you still listen to their albums, but supporting them by buying albums/merch etc and not acknowledging who they are is pretty bad by the moral systems most people abide by.

I agree in everything but "all art is representative of the ideology of the artist". What if you don't have a clue about the ideology of the artist and it isn't mirrored upon their work? It's a bit tricky discussion but i see your point.

Have no fucking clue about Bowie, I don't listen to him, but yes all art represents the artist's ideology to some degree even if it's very small and extremely difficult to decipher. Your personal beliefs will always strongly influence how you make art. This is not debatable.

If you don't have any way to determine the ideology of the artist and it isn't extremely obvious in their work then you simply can't tell, but the fact that you can't identify it doesn't mean it isn't there.

Millions of people worship the fucking pope - so I think we are allowed a nazi musician as long as we don't go nazi ourselves.

Yeah I'd say dozens is conservative considering how many shitass nazi labels there are that have rosters of like a hundred bands each that collectively might have a hundred fans.

Thankfully those people aren't very relevant. However, nazis in big bands like Graveland or whoever are pretty relevant.

We would like to firmly state that we are first and foremost not an NSBM band, we are apolitical.

Fr though I changed my pfp quite a while ago and the site just reverted it back on its own sometime in the past few months. I can’t be bothered over it anymore.

I'm saying people should be probably allowed to like one nazi musician. It's also how you avoid them going underground.

But otherwise I agree with this quote from a falls of rauros interview:

"I can hang with misanthropy, cultural subversion, religious blasphemy, and whatever else in black metal. But fascism and racism simply have no seat at the table."
