I don't think I've ever agreed with so many of the sentences in one review on this website. I think that after the hype wears off this record is going to sit somewhere between 2.5 and a 3 for most people. I personally give it a 2 just because by Tool's standards I know they can do far better

Eclipse, tool isn't a metal band. They're prog rock at best. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying to you

"The amount of negs on what is a pretty solid review perfectly embodies the shitty side of their rabid fanbase"

@Rik: gotta admit, you got me with "Talk about bias". I still wanna start with this as this seems to be one of the worse Tool. That way they are hopefully getting more interesting with every album and keep me motivated to go through their discog.

People arguing what genre Tool belong to...yeah, that's part of the problem: Not interesting enough to be credible prog, certainly not rocking enough to be metal....they just don't bring anything new or innovative to the table that numerous better bands in their respective genres bring. So, what's the point in Tool?

To me Tool's alternative metal - which is not "trve" metal

In terms of riffs they're definitely way heavier than what most people classify as "just rock"

Am I the only one that thinks Chocolate Chip Trip would be a great track if it wasn't for those shit synths tho? Like, why the fuck

Lateralus is better. But this kills 10,000 Days.

Hmmm. Pneuma worst track. Fear inoculum best track. You dont like the name 7empest. You expect from a band to be at its creative pick when its members are 50 years old. It seems to me that you are the kid that is like lets listen this album once and rate it poor with some ridiculous arguments. Are you mad that this album is great??? Go hangout with pikachu.

Good review - Huge Tool fan - 7empest is indeed the best track on here and Pneuma for me the worst but overall we have a substantial difference of opinion
