I dont think I need to explain the irony of that last post egarran, even though you have the cognitive powers to barely turn on a tamagotchi

For me, this is the best review I’ve read about this record. You make so many good points. She is clearly very talented - she has a really charismatic voice, and an excellent ear for melody - but she needs an editor (many of these songs could have been cut) and a producer who’ll reign in her ad-libbing fancies. They almost never work to her advantage, and they can take the listener right out of the song. You spoke about her “la la”-ing during Venice Bitch, and her stuttering of “bar-t-t-tender” (for me it does ruin the song), but I think the worst offender is at 2:35 of Happiness is a Butterfly (which is my favourite song here). Why didn't anyone tell her that that limp, ineffectual « ah-oh-oh » was horrible?

Lol imagine chirping Periphery one of the goats in the genre, yet you listen to Lana Del Rey. Give your head a shake bud.

"her stuttering of “bar-t-t-tender” (for me it does ruin the song)"
It just makes the song better.

@Doof - "Her standard singing is personality free for me :/"
It's weird to me that someone would rep Weyes Blood's Titanic Rising (basically if Karen Carpenter and Aimee Mann were combined into an easy listening indie power ranger), then diss LDR's singing for being personality free.

'basically if Karen Carpenter and Aimee Mann were combined into an easy listening indie power ranger'
yeah that'd be a great voice
erm, with Lana it's all so glossy when she does the big ballads and with glossy ballads most everyone sounds the same - is what I'm finding

To me Titanic Rising sounds like very on one level, with the occasional high note, and there's much less inflection, so it comes out slightly stodgy, earnest and samey, especially in the backend of the record.

Doof and others just get confused with strong women. They have to be harmless pixie girls. Look at his ratings for proof.
So he has to make up some reason to not like this, even if it is obviously his style.
