"Fear Inoculum" is an album that promised much, but fell short of expectations. The soundscapes are quite evocative, but the songs themselves are beset with a certain ennui and lack the dynamism and vitality of their earlier works. The vocals, although technically proficient, are often overshadowed by the instrumentation, leaving the listener feeling somewhat unengaged. The production values are quite high, but the overall experience is somewhat lackadaisical and fails to leave a lasting impression. The album is not without its merits, but it fails to live up to the high standards set by the band's previous works. All in all, I was left feeling chagrined by the lackluster offering.
