"Curious if you have any examples of metalcore bands that saw mainstream success in the late 90s/2000s"

First band that I can think of is Killswitch Engage. They hit it pretty big for a while. Their song "Arms of Sorrow" made it onto a movie soundtrack.

For 1994 it was revolutionary. And to hit the mainstream like it did. A very important album.

Slaughtered, 25 Years, Shedding Skin, Use my Third Arm, Throes of Rejection, Planet Caravan cover all great.

90% of the riffs on the back half of this album (if not the whole album) are just lazy, the cover is great, but I dont really count that. this album sucks imo, the great southern trendkill is way better

edit: also why the fuck is Dime a total non entity for this album

They were going for extremity. And achieved it for a mainstream metal band at that time

Damn u so angry.

My advice after many years on sputnik is to not try to make sense of an album's popularity. It can become an unhealthy addiction.

Next you risk making some kind of über-cringe 'albums I don't get' list.

I remember being super disappointed when I heard 25 Years after people hyped it up so much. Everybody kept talking about "that groove" at the end, and I was like yep... that's a groove alright

Overall, probably one of my least favorite songs here, because the buildup to that groove is honestly pretty damn boring
