Been coming back to this one a lot. Had it on CD as a teenager. No way in hell this is a 2. You're drunk. I'd give this a 3.5 based on the first 4 tracks alone, plus the Planet Caravan cover. It takes a bit of a dip at Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills, but picks back up again after.

I love it when people insult users who wrote reviews/left the site like 15 years ago
|

I mean, it's not like it's a serious insult haha. I'm not over here raging over this review or anything. I also don't check when the review is written. I was listening to the album, typed into the search bar for it and this is the first review that pops up. It also had the most recent comments from like two weeks ago.

"This album is just horrid. Dime doesn’t play up to his standards, Phil tries to dominate each song, Vinnie’s bass drum pops like a little b**ch, and Rex is just there, doing nothing. It doesn’t add up well at all. Pick up “Cowboys From Hell” or “Vulgar Display of Power” if you are interested in these guys, but stay the hell away from this garbage.
Overall Grade – 2/5"
Sounds like even less than a damn 2, lol

I honestly sympathize with what the reviewer is saying, just not as harsh. This thing riffs hard when done right but I feel like most of the songs really waste their potential. Like “25 Years” starts with a beautiful riff but then they shit on the rest of the song. And what even is the guitar solo in “Becoming”
Pantera come off as the smart student who can write amazing essays, but instead get shitfaced and wait until the day of to start writing the essay. it's mostly bullshit nonsense but there are glimpses of natural talent and wasted potential that really make you wish said student would just put down the jack daniels and actually try.

The end of 25 years is one of their most vicious riffs though
I mean I agree this is just a patchwork of riffs crudely sewn together but honestly who the fuck cares
