The jocks hadnt really got on board yet either. Crowds I saw them was still just metal crowds. Pits were crazy but fun. The did all that throwing a beer out with acid in it, some dude dived off the balcony, was just FUN. Thing their crowds shirted towards then end of this cycle on start of trendkill. At least in Europe.

I just can't hate them. I grew up on them. All the local bikers over here were hardcore fans back then, including one close family friend that got me into them when I was a junior (along with Black Sabbath, Slayer, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Sepultura...).
Even when I saw Phil and his background band covering Pantera songs live last year the crowd went wild. Plenty of Pantera hate online, but in real life I haven't come across many that outright loathe them. And the ones I did meet were for the most part socially awkward twinks or comical tryhards.
