I don’t think that’d work with Touche as the production on all their other albums are fine as they are.
State Faults seem tempted to do a similar thing with Desolate Peaks.

yeah for sure. And that's what's problematic for me when doing a whole album, because for better or for worse the production on an album is part of what makes it an album. Whereas only rerecording some songs and putting them in a mix is fine for me because that way you're not messing with the context of an album specifically.

That's true, I think in that case if a band is going to rerecord an album I would prefer it be a live album, sort of like Coheed's Neverender series. And State Faults slap live so it'd be perfect

First few times through this, I preferred it to the original recording. Went back to the OG and gave it a spin on my system. While I do enjoy the re-recording quite a bit and a few songs have benefitted from it, I’m going Original > New Recording.
