i don't know why i felt so strongly about this before, the drumming is possibly the most irritating drum performance i've listened to on a recent black metal album

while i'm on a roll, the song structure is messy and dull as well. the songs kind of just bounce from idea to idea without much feeling or direction. plus you have to listen to the drums that entire time

i think the bigger prob is the drum sound moreso than the performance bc they do sound kinda goofy.

with albums like that i have a hard time differentiating tracks unless they're really structurally different, so idk if i like it yet either or if it all will just blend into an hour of riffs.

having given it some time to sit, I really don't like the production. Lunn has often put his vocals way in the back, but this album has the muddiest, lowest placed guitars of his career and it makes every song sound like this weird, sonic glue of guitar notes with no identity

i like how suffocating it is but it does make everything kind of blur together a lot.
