yeah i actually said before I liked more Ontological Misteryum but actually Horrendous and Tomb Mold are completely different strokes now.

I can see it but honestly I feel like the new Horrendous album was more predictable than the new Tomb Mold, just as far as where their sound was going. Both albums are really fucking good tho

It looks like I'm late to the Tomb Mold party but here I go. The Aspie Fantasie told me to chill in the soundoff, but how am I supposed to chill now when one of the best dm albums of the last few years (Horrendous's) is "predictable" now?... jeez

The Aspie Fantasies aka someone was right, I should have chilled tfo...
I'm going to spoil the party but new Tomb Mold has let me down. I'll try to explain why:
They definitely embarked on the Death/Horrendous route now with some Cynic(al) moments here and there (which I should have predicted in the cover art). Now the problem is, Death and Horrendous went progressively into that prog direction if you listen to their discogs progression (too many prog words, I know, forgive me). Here the change was very abrupt and that came with a few pitfalls.
First this new style makes the dm growls sound kind of boring very fast, it's like they remain the same while the music is going places and after just a song or two they stand out as a bit dull and not on par with the music.
Second, the soloing guitar production is weird, it's like the guitar is playing in a completely different place, I felt there is a lack of harmony at many points in the album's production.
Third, for some reason the proggy elements clearly inspired by acts like Death, Cynic and Atheist end up sounding like a band trying to be something they are not (yet). I couldn't really vibe with the new one.
This one, Planetary Clairvoyance, feels like they are on their element and I sincerely believe they had some territory to explore in this brand of dm yet.

I just learned today that Tomb Mold's singer is their drummer haha that's fuckin wild.

Frost, that was spot on and exactly the feeling I got with the vox. The first tracks it was fucking great but then it started to stand out and not in a good way. The Cynic parts were alright for me but I feel Horrendous did them more tastefully.
STILL, the new one is amazing minor the vox issue, really love the rest.

I guess I would have rated it a bit higher with better vox, but still I feel it's a transitional album at best. They need to adapt to this new path they've taken imho. It feels kind of forced for now.

Anyone know when/where pre-orders will be?

Both this and MANOR OF INFINITE FORMS are better than the new album. It's good though.

“last few years (Horrendous's) is "predictable" now?... jeez”
I mean it was a very natural progression from their previous two albums I don’t really know why anyone wouldn’t see it coming lol. Not a bad thing, it’s a fuckin great album
Also nice criticisms but I live for the riff and new Tomb Mold has really really good ones
