2019 is the gift that keeps on giving so I don't blame you dude. Take your time.

Honestly, I try to keep my 2019 list relatively short. Or not necessarily short per se, but just a manageable length, one that doesn't appear overwhelming/like busywork of sorts. I've found that the more I try to listen to stuff, the less engaged I am. Basically I scour bandcamp on occasion and other than that I keep my ears open for what's hot/trending, and I make sure to follow bands I've enjoyed previously.

I feel you there. I tend to cherry pick albums that I find to be in my wheelhouse. Exploring genre after genre, album after album, different artists with different styles... gets tiresome for certain. My palette is pretty expansive though and I find enjoyment in many different genres, so I guess it all depends on my mood. Lately, I've been itching for dark, experimental type shit just like this album. I can't stop listening to it. It's uncompromisingly dark, yet the added melodies are simply gorgeous and add a sense of accessibility to the record.

if anything, discovering this band and listening to this record alongside their last has given me a new appreciation for the kind of talent The Flenser has on their roster.
most of my new discoveries either come from stuff that pops up on my twitter feed and grabs my attention or seeing intriguing album in passing.

Haven't heard anything by this band since "Want". Need to get on it. Good review and it's definitely got me interested

Thanks dude!
If you liked Want, Indifferent Rivers is worth checking for sure, I think that one is pretty underrated.

Powders is such a good song.

I believe that you touch yourself in the dark and think about nothing
That's some way to spend your time

There's only so much of the droning aspect I can tolerate until it becomes less aesthetically pleasing and more like a dull facet of the release. This certainly captivated more than I initially thought it would, and the high points are definitely climactic, but there were other points where it undeniably dragged.

I was sort of into their last album because I thought "The Clearing" was a great track, but then their Alien Pains EP really put me off them as a band that I just wasn't going to get.
This album is much better than both. I'm loving "What Goes In and Comes Out".

What Goes In and Comes Out is absolutely gorgeous. That piano buildup just gets me.

"zzzzzzzzz"
That's the sound of you mfs sleeping on this incredible album.

I know the feeling. Unfortunately, some releases just never quite catch on. The music scene is vast so it's difficult to gain traction on occasion.

Perhaps the hype was all in my head I suppose. Unfortunate, I can see people enjoying this.
