I really like this band, but struggle to see them as anything exceptional. Then again my fave Immo is Majesty & Decay which most people think is odd, so maybe these guys just aren't my ideal style of DM outside of that release.

Majesty is definitely different than the older albums. Its alot more modern in sound so I could see where these older ones arent as appealing if you dont normally like the style too much. They're also a good deal slower on average

EIF is a top 5 dm album ever for me and Shrines is like top 10-15. Also Demon that’s not odd at all to me. Majesty is a top tier Immo album.

'Everything is Fire' is nothing short of a transcendental experience, I'm not even being hyperbolic (this time).
Regarding the Immo discussion: I'm not actually sure what's preventing these guys from hitting home a bit more consistently, slow or mid-tempo is fine for me (sometimes) and I also like the OSDM sound.

I love Sinister, first two I put above MA and most other stuff.
As for Immo, I would actually take Immo over Gorguts. I'd also put certain Immo albums (like this) over a lot of Death albums, but I would put Death above Immolation overall. In my eyes, Immolation's first 5 are all classics. M&D and stuff are sick too -- but I def wouldn't call their later albums classics.

I think Death is better if we compare the entire discography of them and Immolation, but its hard to say because Death ended before they had any bad albums. It's like if Immolation had ended after Unholy Cult. Gorguts isnt as good as either in my opinion. They're a fantastic band, but their third album onwards is just not enjoyable. It's like you're in a lecture almost if that makes sense

I don't think either band has any bad albums tbh. I think Immolation's later albums, especially Shadows in the Light, are super underrated.
I get what you're saying though. Death def has a more consistent discog overall, and I have more Death albums 5'd than I do Immolation. I like later Gorguts though. I'm not nearly as big on Obscura as most but I dig it, my fav Gorguts are TEOS, FWTH, and CD. I love all their stuff really, but still prefer Death and Immolation.

Shadows is pretty good, but it's hard to really recommend it when there are at least 5 other Immo albums to check out first
I should probably relisten to Obscura onwards, but the first two albums are incredible. Death and Immo are probably still better though, they're just too good

Inverted is probably one of Gorguts' best songs TBH. Its so wild
I think the only album you can really go wrong with is Kingdom Of Conspiracy. I just don't like that one very much. All the others are better

Most would agree with you for sure. I'm of the opinion that HR is their weakest. I quite like KoC. Songs like God Complex, Serving Divinity, Bound to Order etc. rip. HR isn't bad either, though.
Of course, I would still agree that KoC is one their weakest. It's just that even the "worst" Immolation albums still slay m/
E: Yeah Inverted slays man. That, Behave Through Mythos, the t/t, and Das Martyrium Des are my favs from that. Shit, Unearthing the Past too.
