Nice review Papa. Gonna give this one a spin. I liked their first album a bit, but kinda thought of it as more of a novelty than something I felt really immersed in. This band drama is ridiculous and I can't help but think they both may have rushed albums out to be the first real babushka.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this was rushed.

"Krys bore the idea and most of the instruments, invited Bart to do the vocals, there was no contract, because of the anonymus clergy gimmick (kinda like Ghost, even up to the lawsuit). Second album took longer than expected and Bart grew impatient, eventually licensing the Batushka name and production, cutting Krys off and starting to work on his own album under the same name. Krys sued, the court ruled that while the lawsuit is going on, Bart is nt allowed to use the Batushka name or release anything under it. Therefore, the lawsuit must be over OR Bart is breaking the law by releasing a single from the album OR it's all in the ownership of Krys now (somehow) and he will release both albums."

“I refuse to believe it's anything less than a 4.5” You fucking bet it isn’t.
Also, statement from the band’s ex-drummer http://www.metalstorm.net/events/news_comments.php?news_id=35884

This whole mess is a real shame. Would have loved a real successor album of the same quality as the debut

Holy shit, that's pretty damning.
Definitely doesn't really change anything as far as the legality of what's gone down/happening, but it's definitely an interesting perspective.

The drummer's opinion is dumb af.

How would you know tho
|

What the drummer is saying is probably closer to the truth. The reality is it's probably both Bart's and Krys' fault. After having to wait 30 minutes for them to even start their set at Damnation last year, at least one of them is a diva.
