I love STP, but let's be real. They were a singles band. Every album had a couple of gems and a bunch of filler. I like them more than I ever liked Pearl Jam but I'm not about to pretend that they were better.

The album starts with Dead and Bloated which is an almost ludicrously bad introduction to the band and sounds like a subpar ripoff of Green Jello's Three Little Pigs.

Purple has very little filler if any - well structured album 🤔

Purple is an improvement for sure and one of my favourite albums of all time, but Meatplow, Vasoline and Lounge Fly are all kind of pointless apart from introducing STP's new and improved musical template. Unglued and Army Ants are also pretty directionless.

Yeah Purple and Tiny Music are great. Though TM does admittedly have its share of filler. The

Fair enough. But I'm a hardcore STP fan, so it will be a tug-of-war that will lead to nothing.

I even love shangri la dee da, and that's probably their worst album.

Hard to have filler when your entire band's existance has the appeal of a board of pressed wood

Lounge Fly is so good, can't imagine labelling that 'pointless'

'Unglued' is quite unique for STP too, and is good for injecting an uptempo tune into the mix

Scotty could sing the lad - could have been a B rate crooner instead of a wock n' woller

I don't mean that as a criticism but he wouldn't have been the next Sinatra

I wish they just cut the hidden song from kitchenware and candybars. The song is a terrible closer. It doesn't make sense to go from a song that tells the experience of an abortion to a joke song singing the success of having a second album.
